Hey sorry again for the absence, been working away on my dissertation and doing a little more work on the Amy Draft which is due in on Tuesday so I have uploaded what is the fourth, and possibly final draft.

Not much has changed from Draft 3 bar some minor details and a small rewrite of the last segment of dialogue right at the end. Continue reading

3 Minute Film Idea

JpegI figure it was time to let you guys know my idea, see if I can get a little feedback before tomorrow! After around 12:00GMT I won’t be able to make major changes but for now I figured I would share my idea with you guys to see if there is any improvements I can make before pitching tomorrow.

To the write is a picture of the pillars that are mentioned below. I am including both the premise and the synopsis.

The working title at the moment is “Divide” because of the divide that separates them etc. If you can think of a better one though let me know!

Do You Remember Rise? So Apparently…

…I never uploaded the first ten minutes of the script which I had to submit for the module assignment last year.

I have corrected that and it is now available to read if you so desire. This is a TV Show I would like to come back to and start working on although I have some ideas for it now to put it into another genre – Steampunk!

Any thoughts or feelings on it?

Congratulations Followers – I Choose You!

I’m going to be straight up with you, I need your help. I have finally settled on an idea for my feature film that I have to work on for the next year for University and before I start planning out the ins and outs of the film, I have written some loglines. They don’t do the story I have in mind a lot of justice as there is a lot to the story with back story etc which I will leave out for now.

If you could take the time to read the following the loglines and let me know which intrigues you the most, and if possible a reason why? This is an exercise I have read about in my latest screenwriting book purchase of “Save The Cat!” by Blake Snyder, I may do a review on this book once I have finished it because it is actually really good, if you want to know more about it I suggest going on Amazon it is a must have book if you’re a screenwriter!

So without further ado, here are the loglines:

  • An ex-soldier must overcome his addiction to DAWN, a virtual reality device, in order to save his brother.
  • A dismissed solider must overcome his own problems to help look after his brother, as a new killer emerges.
  • A recently discharged solider has to shelve his own problems to save his paralysed brother from a new cyber-killer.
  • A recently discharged soldier has to face a new breed of killer, a cyber-killer, to save his brother’s life.
  • An ex-soldier who is addicted to the virtual reality world of DAWN, must overcome his addiction to save his brother’s life.
  • A discharged solider must battle his addiction to a virtual world in order to save his brother from a cyber-serial killer.
  • An ex-soldier must battle his addiction to a virtual world in order to save his brother from a cyber-killer.

Let me know in the comments which is your favourite and your reasons why. Thanks ever so much!

Feature Film Plot Change

For those of you who may remember I posted this post not so long ago:
http://wordsformwindows.com/2012/08/23/feature-film-plan-draft-1-part-1/

Well scrap that idea! (Well, I haven’t scrapped it I’ve just filed it away for later use)

Yesterday I had a lecture based around Characters, and how to make them believable. To do this we thought about the back story for the character and how this affects how they are during the start of the film.

We were set the task of getting into pairs and answering the “ten questions” you should ask yourself when creating a character and thinking about how they fit in your story. I will include the ten questions at the end in case you’ve never seen them before. Needless to say, I could answer the questions but they didn’t fit with my plot, and the key concept I wanted to tell was of the character over coming his nerves and shyness, his fears etc. And I was trying to force him into a plot that wasn’t right for him, like pressing a square peg into a round hole.  Continue reading

Script Reports

Today I had my second lesson of my Script Analysis module and we were given the format for a script report.

For those who don’t know what a Script Report is, it is an industry standard document that production companies and producers and executives would have filled in by a Script Reader. This is usually a 3 page document that helps the producer easily decided which scripts to go ahead with as reading every 90 page script they got would take way too much time. Continue reading

Feature Film Plan – Draft 1: Part 1!

So, I haven’t been posting a lot recently due to A) Laziness, B)Playing video games and C) When doing neither of those things, Writing!

I had been doing it the traditional pen and paper way, and today I wrote up the first chunk of the plan for my as of yet untitled Feature Film. Below you can find the PDF of the first draft which clocks in at 2026 words, which funnily enough is the year I will end up completing my degree if I don’t stop procrastinating!

As a side note this was the first document I have written using the new version of Microsoft Office, Office 2013. At the moment it is in Beta and anyone can download it an use it! And it’s very good, I may do a feature on it tomorrow even demoing it and showing you the good points and the bad points, but for now here is the link for those techies who are interested: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/officepreview

Back to the piece of work here it is, I hope you enjoy reading it and as always I look forward to your comments and constructive feedback!

Escape – The Writing Experience

My experience writing Escape has been a brilliant one. I opened myself up to a lot of feedback with this script and I got some amazing feedback that allowed me to get the script to where it is today. The version I have handed in was the fifth draft and it has come a long way since the first draft, and I hope to take it even further, because even though it is a standalone story I envision it to also be able to translate well to a series of episodes of maybe an hour in length. It’s That Time Again

Time for me to share my work!

As you may know I have been working away at a thirty minute script called Escape, I have had some amazing feedback over the writing process, something which will help when I write my reflective essay .

The script is due in tomorrow and I have included the final version on this post on the off chance someone finds the time to read it and spots any grammar or spelling mistakes or continuity by around 3pm tomorrow (UK Time). Plot wise it is going to stay the same I think unless something glaringly obvious sticks out due to it being in tomorrow and needing to other work for Friday. Continue reading
