Fresh Ink – Write For Us

I may have posted about this a while back when I first started the blog, at first it was just for me and a friend but I have decided to open up to others now so we can hopefully get a good community going.

Basically me and fellow blogger Lukeknwls run another blog called Fresh Ink. The purpose of this blog is to share our writing in another place that generates more content that is focused around writing, any forms.

Unfortunately there haven’t been many posts on it recently, I have instead been concentrating on and posting to this blog mainly.

I am putting the call out to anyone who wants to write for the blog, either by sending me their name and article and me posting it for you or by becoming a proper user of the blog and posting yourself. The way this works is you create the post, the same way you would for your own blog and it gets submitted for approval to either me or Luke and after a quick read through we allow the post and it shows up on the page. Simple!

If you would like to write for the blog, feel free to email me at: contact@wordsformwindows.com

I will be in touch as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Dan

New Year, New Look

Now the New Year is in full swing I am going to update the layout of the site, possibly a new theme, but definitely a new background and header, it may take me a couple of days to come up with a design I like, but yeah, should be in the next couple of days hopefully.

The change in background and header is because of some feedback I have had with people saying it is quite distracting, so I want to change this as soon as possible.

Also, I have update the About Me, it now includes a picture, although a silly one, and is more in depth. The original text has been reworded and I have expanded upon it now, giving a background to myself so you know where I am coming from.

Thanks again, and hopefully you’ll like the new look to the blog. Continue reading

Thank You!

Today my total subscribers went to over 50, I have been doing this summer last year, not sure of the exact date of my first post.

I don’t know if 50 is a big number compared to the length, but then it doesn’t matter. What does matter is that a big amount of people have enjoyed my work enough to click subscribe and have commented and provided me very useful feedback on my work.

I appreciate this so much, and it’s the people following this blog who make me want to keep posting.

I actually feel bad when I don’t post something, so you guys are keeping me motivated to.

I hope my work reaches even more people, because that will be make me feel even more privileged.

I would also like to offer an apology, I don’t comment on other’s work often because my email gets so full of new posts from the hundreds of brilliant people I follow. From now on, I am going to try to comment on people’s work a lot more often if possible, to show them the appreciation they show me.

So thank you, and I hope you never get bored.

Train of Thought

(Runaway Train of Thought by Tzod Earf)

Our train of thought is a funny thing if you think about it, you start off thinking about one subject and if you aren’t careful you get sent away on an epic journey and end up thinking about something COMPLETELY unrelated to what you where thinking about to start with. For example;

1. These shoes are warm
2. Imagine being by a warm fire in a log cabin
3. Wouldn’t it be ace if I owned a log cabin.
4. I could hunt bears, and have like, bear pelts ALL OVER.

Picture It & Write

Again the people over at Ermilia’s blog have posted another Picture It & Write article. For those who don’t know what this is, they post a picture and then write a brief story about the image. They then ask for you to join in, your can either carry on their story or write your own. You can also do poetry and even something in another language (providing there is a translation posted along with it). I encourage everyone to give it a go because it helps get the “creative juices” flowing. My entry is below the image.

Franklin and Bash

Today was the day my girlfriend introduced me to the TV Show Franklin and Bash.

And what a show, so far only watched the Pilot episode (watching the second one as I write this, multi-tasking win). Recently we’ve been watching a lot of dramatic TV Shows, for example Sherlock (don’t even get me started) and also Life on Mars, (the UK version obviously).

What I like about this show is how my girlfriend put it, “it’s like a comedy duo have been placed in dramatic situations”and it is, I mean, I’m sure that was how it was written, but they’ve done it really well.

It’s a very fresh show that is something I have never watched before, let alone thought I would enjoy. Has anyone else seen it?

Also, due to mentioning my girlfriend a lot on this post I may as well link her blog, just click the link and you can be on her blog reading her wonderful posts aha.

Life

Hi, so maybe this isn’t my best piece ever but I do quite like it, any feedback would be appreciated so I can edit it, thanks.

Life is a funny thing,
We all have it,
Does that make us experts?
And if we’re experts how do we get lost?
Stumbling through blind.

If we’re the experts,
Why do we need people to ask us “how does that make you feel?”
Here, take a seat on my couch.
Can they even help?

First Day Back

So today was my first day back at Uni, and it was actually entertaining, no writing was done, but a lot was a announced and we got to do some idea generation which was very fun to do. But definitely the most exciting news was that actor Bill Nighy, who was in both Shaun of the Dad and Hot Fuzz, as well as playing Davey Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Although it is very good he is coming and it will be an awesome opportunity to meet someone talented, someone raised the question after class, why is an actor coming to talk about screenwriting.
